Zionsville, Indiana‘s CCA Gallery labels itself the only true artists’ cooperative in Indiana. While some might argue that interpretation, there is no question this facility houses an exceptional, ever-changing collection of work by over thirty fine artists. Eventually, all Zionsville Hoosiers who love art wend their way into the CCA Gallery, whether to show their work or to enjoy its many exhibitions and events.
For more than 30 years, the CCA has brought beauty and creativity to the greater Indianapolis area in the form of painting, glass art, sculpting, pottery, textiles, photography and jewelry. Generations of artists from all over Indiana have been a part of the CCA success story. The first CCA (which stands for Center for Creative Arts) was opened in 1978 in Broad Ripple Village, one of the six formal cultural districts in Indianapolis. From there, it was moved to a somewhat larger venue on Carrollton Avenue, where it remained for 17 years. In 2002, CCA Gallery once again found new roots, this time in Zionsville, where it remains today in a prime location.
Exhibitions and special events are constantly rotating and ongoing at CCA Gallery. Visitors might catch a show about recycled art one week and a blown-glass display the next. Look for their monthly open house receptions for featured artists, or just pop in while you’re enjoying wandering around Main Street in historic downtown Zionsville. Whenever you visit, or for whatever reason, you’re sure to find a variety of interesting exhibits and some top-notch art in Zionsville and meet some friendly people in this, the longest-running artists’ cooperative in Indiana.
